Meet my new baby niece, Elesia Janis. She was born on August 12, 2009 @ 3:05 a.m.She weighed 7lbs. 7oz. & 19.5 inches long.I took these pictures when she was 8 days old.
This summer was the 2nd Annual Sanger Family Reunion. It was at my Uncle Tim & Aunt Tina's beach place and let me tell you, this place is awesome!! It's right along the Pend Oreille River and they have their private dock, fire pit, a horseshoe pit right along the water and plenty of room for the kiddos to run around. The first morning, Uncle Tim, took us for a boat ride. Nautika, McKenna and McKayla had a blast. The little dare devil, Nautika, kept telling Tim, "faster, faster!". After the boat ride the horseshoe tourney started, we drew for partners and ended up with eight teams. Standard rules expect for one; if somebody threw a double ringer both people of the opposite team had to shotgun a beer! Well, there were a few double ringers thrown but I am under strict orders to never post the pictures! (Good thing I'm a good niece...hehe). The 2009 Sanger Family Reunion Horseshoe Tournament Champions are Uncle Steve and Aunt Beth! A few volleyball games were played after the tournament until Peyton got hit in the face with the ball (by her Dad). At night we gathered around the fire and told our worst injuries (Ben always has the best stories), most euphoric moments of our life, favorite movie and anything else we could think of that would make good stories! It was a fun weekend had by all and filled with lots of laughter and good memories.
Nautika would've sat in this spot all day if she could have.

I thougt this tree house was pretty cool. You can't really tell from the pictures but it has 3 stories!

This was right bofore she threw and forgot to let go and landed about 10 feet in front of her!
We had Kenzie's baby shower on Valentine's Day, which I thought was cute (some people complained...but such is life!). My Mom organized and hosted it for Kenzie and I. There were fun games and prizes of course and lots of cute and thoughtful gifts from all the wonderful people in our life. Kenzie, like a newborn does, slept through the whole shower. I woke her up at the end so we could get pictures of her. =)

My Girls are soooo lucky to have such an awesome Mammie!
During my pregnancy I was extremely nervous about how Nautika and I would react to a new baby. She was Ben and I's everything for 2 years and all of a sudden that love was going to have to be shared. Could I really love another child like I love Nautika, my 1st born??? It seemed so impossible until the day Kenzie was born. I soon learned it was possible to have that same, yet so different, love for two different people. I remember when Nautika walked into the hospital room after Kenzie was born and looking over at my Husband showing Nautika his new baby sister and the look on both of their faces brought tears to my eyes. Here was my family, my world, my everything and I just knew it was all going to be okay.
It was Thursday and I had my regular weekly appointment at 4:30pm. The week before I was dilated to a 3, so this time I was hoping I might be a little further along. Well I wasn't but my blood pressure was up and had protein in my urine so my Midwife, Dawn, said "ok, I guess you can have this baby". At first I didn't understand what she meant and then she told me Janet (best nurse ever) was getting me a wheelchair to bring me over to the hospital (it's their policy). Still kind of taken back I said "you mean like right now??!!??". Instantly I was scared, scared shit less! I called my Mom while Janet was wheeling me over and then called Mae to come get Nautika. I was all checked in and in my room by 6:00pm. My nurse came in and informed me I was Strep-B positive and needed two rounds of antibiotics before I gave birth. While she was getting ready to put my IV in I had my first contraction. I had the first round of antibiotics and she started the second round and also pitocin to pick up the contractions. The contractions started to get pretty intense right away. My goal was to do this birth without pain medication and told Ben if I asked for it to talk me out of it. I was breathing through them pretty well with the help of my amazing Husband. All of a sudden I looked up and said "I think I peed"! =) My Mom went to get the nurse and when she came in she confirmed that my water had just broke. haha......embarrassing! So she checked me again and I was dilated to a 4. Now the contractions definitely started to pick up and I kicked everybody out except my Mom and Ben and the nurse of course. It was probably around 9:00pm by this time and I was in PAIN. I breathed through about an hour more of intense contractions and started to feel a lot of pressure so I had the nurse check me. I was dilated to a 6.....a frickin 6!!! I couldn't believe it all this pain and only a 6. I got discouraged and upset and asked for the epidural. Ben, like I had asked him, tried talking me out of it but I was soooo tired and knew if I was only a 6 it would be at least another couple of hours of this. The nurse and my Mom left the room to let us discuss it. Ben kept telling me that "there wasn't time" and "I had come this far" and I kept say "I know, I know. but I'm soooo tired." Well after about 10 minutes of "discussing" it I felt her coming out. I jumped back on the bed and Ben ran and got the nurse. She came in, looked down there and shouted for the nurse to call Dawn NOW!! The nurse looked at me and said when I have a contraction to blow out and try not to push.....TRY NOT TO PUSH....WHAT???!!!??? She kept reassuring me and said she has done this before and everything will be okay (I think she was trying to reassure herself more than me though). I just kept saying "where's dawn, where's dawn?". I had to blow trough about 4 contractions when Dawn came bursting through the door. She sat down, put her gloves on and said push and I did just that. All it took was one and a half pushes and Kenzie Jade was placed on my chest. It all happened SO fast I didn't know what to do. So I just cried! I was just a 6 not even 30 minutes earlier and was about to give up on my goal. It must of been Kenzie's way of saying 'you can do it Mom!' =) Kenzie Jade Brown was born on January 29, 2009 at 10:32pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 in. long (exact same as Nautika!). She had lots and lots of dark hair and was absolutely perfect in every single way!
Well we live in the beautiful state of Washington. Coulee Dam to be exact. I grew up here and as a kid I couldn't wait to get out of here and when I had kids I couldn't wait to move back. It's quiet, small and full of fun places to explore, if you like to cruise through the woods and spend the long summer days at the beach, that is. If we do ever decide to move it will be to another small town with the same welcoming feeling.
